The molecule possesses approximate C2 symmetry with the pseudo-twofold axis passing through the unique sulfur atom u4-S(2) and the midpoint of the other two u2-sulfur atoms S(1) and S(3). The unique u4-sulfur atom has a tetrahedral geometry and donates its six valence electrons to the four iron atoms. The average Fe-(μ4-S) distance of 2.247 A is slightly shorter than the average Fe-(μ2-S) distance of 2.265A.
