Language is a tool for people to exchange ideas, and expression and understanding are two components of language communication. This paper uses the principle of pragmatics to explore the ways and means of discourse comprehension and points out the relationship between context, coherence, premise and reasoning and discourse comprehension and their role in discourse comprehension.
