Meg Cabot is the author of more than 50 books for both adults and teens. Her books have sold over 15 million copies worldwide, many of which have been Number 1 New York Times bestsellers. The most famous of these is The Princess Diaries series(系列), which is now being published in over 38 countries and was made into two hit movies by Disney. Besides, Meg wrote the All American Girl, Mediator, and 1-800-Where-R-You series(on which the television series, Missing, was based). She is now writing a new middle grade series called Allie Finkle’s Rules for Girls, as well as an exciting new young adult series, Airhead.
Meg was born on February 1, 1967, during the Chinese astrological year(年星) of the Fire Horse, a well-known unlucky sign. Fortunately she grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where few people knew the bad luck of being a fire horse — at least until Meg became a teenager, when she failed in maths exams twice, then decided to cut her own bangs(刘海). After six years as an undergrad(大学肄业生) at Indiana University, Meg moved to New York City to be after a career as an illustrator(a person who draws pictures, especially for books), at which she failed terribly, forcing her to turn to her favorite hobby — writing novels. She worked many jobs to pay the rent, including a decade-long hard time as the assistant(助理) manager of a 700-bed freshmen dormitory at NYU, a position she sometimes still misses.
Meg now divides her time between Key West, Indiana, and New York City with a primary cat(one-eyed Henrietta), and her husband, who doesn’t know he married a fire horse. Please don’t tell him.
Questions:
1. For whom does Meg Cabot write?
2. In how many countries are her books popular?
3. How old is Meg Cabot this year?
4. As an illustrator, was she successful or not?
答案:
1. For both adults and teens.
2. More than 38 countries.
3. Nearly 50(years old).
4. She was not./She failed.
