《聊斋志异》中的悲剧性小说 ,极大地突破了前代悲剧性小说的美学传统 ,具有新的审美观照焦点、新的审美视野和新的处理悲剧成因———经过———结局的模式 ,表明我国的悲剧性小说开始由前代的传统型向《红楼梦》、《儒林外史》式的新型悲剧、悲喜剧小说的方向发展。
