我国大城市轨道交通规划中,乘客流量、线网规模、线网结构等长期存在预测值偏高、规模偏大、线网结构形态优化选择不科学等诸多问题。为此,地铁规划编制应特别强调符合实际,立足当前,兼顾长远;地铁线网应主要布置在主城范围内,合理抑制低密度地区(段)的地铁规划;地铁线网结构形态应尽可能采用“放射+环”或“直径线+环”的网络结构,使整个网络的连通性、流动性、可达性、机动性、覆盖率等各项指标得到较大优化。
