发纹是轴承钢表面缺陷的普遍形式。为了减少金属废品率必须改善钢绽表面质量,钢锭表面质量很大程序上与浇铸方法和钢锭模内表面准备程度有关。模铸轴承钢大多数普遍采用下铸法。钢锭模涂有底漆(用石灰树脂制成的)模底部装有木制框架。涂底漆与底板因素大大降低了钢锭表面质量。同时钢锭体浇铸结束前木制框架长时间燃烧降低了木制框架的利用效率。
