关于儒学是不是宗教的问题,历来有不同看法。赞同者有之,反对者亦有之。赞同者之中,出发点又所不同。从维护儒家立场着眼者有之,如牟宗三;从批评儒学立场出发者亦有之,如任继愈。我对这个问题的看法较为持中,主张儒学不属于典型的宗教,却有着宗教的作用。说儒学不是典型的宗教,是指与基督教、佛教、伊斯兰教等宗教相比,儒学既不信一个人格神,也没有一个最高的教 There has always been a difference between Confucianism and religious belief.
