Japan has always been a place that is not popular with foreign companies. Of course, there are a few foreign companies that have succeeded in Japan - McDonald's, IBM and Microsoft are obvious examples - but they are exceptions. Most multinational companies conduct smaller and less profitable operations in the Japanese market. But the situation is changing. After two decades of economic downturn, the number of Japanese companies has hit a record number of bankruptcies, so Japanese companies are opening the door to outsiders. Japanese managers and workers have always been afraid of the invasion of foreign companies, and now they are gradually realizing that their economy needs to inject new ideas and working methods.
