The paper calculates the minimum steady-state short-circuit current and the corresponding protection sensitivity coefficient of the internal inter-phase and inter-turn short circuits when the generator of the Dachaoshan Hydropower Plant operates in isolation and the voltage is rated and ignores the action of the excitation regulator. Analysis shows that the high sensitivity of single-element differential, incomplete and fully differential protection can constitute the double or triple main protection of the generator
