为纪念1789年的法国革命200周年,1982年10月～1983年11月法国举办了“巴黎新歌剧院”的国际设计竞赛。设计竞赛评奖委员会共收到766个方案,评选出获奖方案17个,提名表扬方案29个。从中选出6个最佳方案提交给密特朗总统,请他挑选1个作为歌剧院的初步设计,但密特朗却选出了3个,香港许李严建筑工程事务所的年青建筑师严迅奇的设计方案就是其中之一。本文是严迅奇应本刊特约而撰写的,原文为英文,由本刊张光辉同志译成中文。——编者
In commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution in 1789, the International Design Competition “Paris New Opera” was held in France from October 1982 to November 1983. The Design Competition Awards Committee received a total of 766 programs, selected 17 award-winning programs, and nominated and praised 29 programs. Six of them were selected for submission to President Mitterand, asking him to select one as the initial design of the Opera House, but Mitterrand selected three young architects from Hong Kong Xu Li Yan Construction Engineering Office.
