The annual direct benefit of water-saving irrigation in Guangdong is 1.3 billion. The Ministry of Science and Technology and relevant experts have fully affirmed the achievements in scientific research on water-saving irrigation. According to the person in charge of the Provincial Water Resources Department, the rainfall in Guangdong is extremely uneven, and the non-controllable water resources reach 75% to 90%. The water management technology is poor and the adjustment performance of the water conservancy project is low. In response to these problems, the Provincial Water Resources Department has conducted trials on water-saving irrigation technology projects in five points such as Lianjiang City suffering from drought.
