The ISO14001 environmental management system was proposed by the International Organization for Standardization and it took effect as an international standard in September 1996. The system is designed to reduce the global environmental load and regulate corporate behavior, and is equally applicable to civil engineering. Japan’s Shilichuan Reservoir Project is an example of the introduction of the ISO14001 system. The reservoir dam is 154m long and the dam height is 43m.
