一天清晨,一个男人和一个女人坐到了他门前的台阶上,他们整日静坐,一动不动。透过前门的玻璃,他不时地盯视着这一男一女。夜幕来临,他们未曾离去。他不知道他们什么时候吃饭,什么时候睡觉,什么时候工作。黎明时分,他们仍旧坐在那儿。无论烈日还是暴雨,他们都一直坐在那儿。最初,只是近处的邻居询问:他们是什么人?为什么坐在那儿?后来,同街稍远处的邻居也来询问。所有从门前路过看见这一男一女的人都在问。
One morning, a man and a woman sat down on the steps in front of him, and they sat all day long, motionless. Through the front glass, he gazed at the man and woman from time to time.
