  【Abstract】At present, some scholars and experts has done much work on the importance and necessity of moral education in college English teaching. But the concrete methods are still not sufficient enough to support the reinforcement of moral education in college English teaching. So, the paper concentrates on the detail and procedure of moral education in college English teaching is of great meaning for the further research of moral education in college English teaching.

  1. The problems in the moral education in college English teaching
  Due to all kinds of reasons, there are still some problems in the moral education of college English teaching.
  1.1 The lack of concentration
  In the present college English teaching, most teaching pay more attention to the teaching methods and strategies of English language and pay less attention to the moral education in college English teaching. In visiting several college English teachers, the author found that, in addition to some young teachers who accepted the latest educational ideas, some English teachers think that moral education is the responsibility of the head teacher. Therefore, in the daily college English teaching process, the students are not actively using the materials to guide students to the guidance and training consciousness of emotion, attitude and values.
  1.2 The lack of proper method
  Like other kinds of education, moral education should also pay attention to the proper method. However, as the result of the lack of professional training, the teaching method of moral education in college English teaching still has giant room to develop. For example, some moral education in college English teaching is just via the traditional way, which means teachers make instruction in classroom and students has to be received passively. The cooperation and communication between teachers and students is too few to be noticed. Many students complain that the moral education in college English teaching is a terrible experience and the interest in moral education in college English is gradually declined.
  1.3 The lack of authentic materials
  At present, the main materials of college English teaching is new horizontal English which has been used over years. But being lack of the latest renewing, the function and effect of it in the process of moral education in college English teaching is being doubted. With the spread and the popularity of internet, many college students advise students to turn to internet for the more English learning materials. But being lack of the authentic selection and administration, the contents and the quality of English learning materials are still need further investigated and tested.   2. The cause of problems existing in the moral education in college English teaching
  There are many reasons for the appearance of the problems existing in the moral education in college English teaching. The paper tries to analyze them in the following perspectives.
  2.1 The influence of culture
  In the process of English teaching, culture teaching is of great importance. So many teachers guide students to learn the feature of western culture in the way of English learning. However, due to the lack of proper guidance, some English learners make some wrong ideas about the nature of western culture, for example, the so-called western diplomatic system and the role of money in society. The wrong ideas formed in the learning of English do great harm to the English learners’ moral attitude towards the surroundings and society where they have been.
  As we all know, culture has a magic power for the assimilations. Some English learners will be influenced little by little when they are exposed to the background of English culture. But, after all, there are so many differences between Chinese culture and western culture, if college English teachers can not make a timely advice and guidance on the development of moral knowledge of students, they may walk on the wrong path about the building of self-morality. So in the future, how to reduce the side effect or the negative of English culture in the moral education in college English teaching is an urgent topic needs to be responded.
  2.2 The influence of environment
  In the process of English learning, many students are likely to learn it by using the resources of environment, including internet. In the virtual word, the information and data is too much to select correctly. So some students may make a wrong choice about the learning resources. For example, there are some popular videos which contain some unhealthy contents about the joy of luxury and violence and erotic scene and so on. If a college English student can not judge correctly, his moral attitude and basic value of life may be transformed to a negative side, which not only destructs his own life but also contributes to the turbulence of the harmonious society. So, in the future, how to guide students to make a proper use of the resources of environment needs to be carried step by step.
  2.3 The role of college students
  As far as the college students are concerned, they are full of passion about the life. Their interest and curiosity is high and they are glad to try all kinds of fresh things and they some time may provides doubt on the traditional moral sense. So under such phenomena, the process of moral education in college English teaching is ready to meet all kinds of challenges. If the method and strategy are not humane enough, college students may reject the present moral education teaching way. And it should be acknowledged that one of the most important features of college students is free will and imagination. No matter moral education in the process of college English teaching or in other college subjects, it is important to respect college student’s individual difference. Only in this way, they can be well prepared for the difficulty and challenge ahead of them.
