Uzbekistan is the main origin of cotton in the Soviet Union, the region has 1 million hectares of cotton. Uzbek scientists respond to the call of the Soviet Communist Party and the government to increase production of cotton as their focus of scientific research. Thanks to Uzbek scientists’ efforts, Uzbek cotton research has topped the world in research achievements and made cotton yield and quality per unit area the highest in the world.
