The world’s natural gas reserves are considerable. Unfortunately, their producing areas tend to be far away from users who are in great need. Difficult, tortuous and long-distance transportation has greatly restricted its widespread utilization. If the main component of natural gas, methane, is converted to methanol, it is far easier to re-ship it. The conversion process is: First, the methane is converted into “syngas” - a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen; and then, this “syngas” is made into methanol or gasoline. However, less than 5% of methanol was recovered by the commonly used methods. Because, when these reactions are carried out, the selectivity of the resulting intermediate to oxygen is significantly greater than that of methane,
