The Royal Institute for Signal and Radar (PPSN) experimental packet-switched network (PPSN) contains many novel features that are closely related to future military communications. In particular, PPSN has been designed to provide a variety of confidential features. PPSN includes end-to-end security program implementation. It involves the use of hardware protection devices that access networked computers as foreign devices, so system security comes down to accessing the computers on the nodes. To ensure this security, a trusted real-time security center is used in the computers at the network nodes. The Security Center operates on a PDP11 / 34 computer and takes particular care to ensure that very little software and hardware are delegated to ensure system security.
