Billy Wilder’s works are mostly comedy films, but he is best at using irony and ridicule to reveal the weakness and flaws of human nature. Someone once said that if Jonathan Swift, a satirical literary master of the seventeenth century, lived in the 20th century, he would definitely create a script for Billy Wilder’s movie. Wilder’s office is a treasure trove, where the souvenirs left by the Hollywood superstars he worked with can be seen everywhere, perhaps in a photo frame of Marlene Dietrich in the photo frame that is optionally placed next to the lounge chair. But the trophy he won over the years (including the Six Little King) was readily placed on the shelves with no obstruction and was hardly noticeable to visitors. All too well, he was Billy Wilder, whose life-long accomplishments no longer need to be advertised by those prizes.
