To explore the relationship between ovarian hormones and breast cancer, the authors conducted a case-control study of breast cancer in young women in Shanghai and Los Angeles at the same time. Through the pairing method, the factors such as age, weight, height, birth history and menstrual cycle are strictly controlled. This article includes 39 cases of Shanghai and 42 cases of localized breast cancer in Los Angeles and the same number of healthy women. The levels of serum estradiol (E_2), sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and progesterone (Pg) were determined by radioimmunoassay on the 22nd day of the menstrual cycle. This study found that the E 2 concentration in case group was 13% higher than that in control group (P = 0.038).
