　　Dr. Stanley Stamm： Born and raised in Seattle， so I enjoy the northwest and the outdoors， and I thought special need children should enjoy the outdoors.
　　Anthony Taylor （Volunteer， former camper）： I’ve known him since birth. I’m 44 years old now. I was taken pretty much right from my Mom straight to Doc Stamm. He is actually the reason why I’m alive.
　　Dr. Stamm： I’ve been at Children’s Hospital since 1952， when I was a 1）resident.
　　Sue Heffeman （RN， volunteer）： I’ve known Dr. Stamm since the very early days of my nursing career. He was just a wonderful caregiver. Seeing how he works with his patients and families was a gift that I was hoping to 2）emulate in my care of patients as well， and the care that I give up here at camp.

　　Dr. Stamm： I started the Stamm Camp 46 years ago.
　　Sue： It’s not a camp just for one disease. It’s a camp that takes care of many different kinds of children. Karen Kilian （RN， volunteer）： These children have a lot of medical needs， such as a lot of medications， perhaps feedings [sic] tubes， that you have to give them their nutrition， oxygen needs， little bit more involved than a lot of other camps can provide.
　　Dr. Stamm： We take about a hundred children now. It started with 19 and went up to a hundred， from the age of 6 up to 14.
　　Shaquita Bell（MD， volunteer）： I sincerely love to watch the kids really get out of their diagnosis and just be kids. I mean， see them get out of their chairs and out of their walkers， and into the lake， and onto a horse. You can see it， even in the ones who can’t tell you they’re having fun， you can see it in their eyes. You can see it in some of their movements and their expressions.
　　Janet Slauson （Volunteer）： He’s just a very impressive guy. He works very quietly， kind of in the background， but he does a tremendous amount.
　　Glynn Huff （Parent， volunteer）： Olivia came to Stamm Camp and met Dr. Stamm. She came home and told us a story about the doctor who came into the cabin every night and tucked her in. 　　Olivia Huff （Camper）： I just like that he is always around， like at lunch or anyplace like a campfire or a movie.

　　Glynn： It makes you want to be a better person. You know， some people inspire by actions and some people inspire by words， and Dr. Stamm does both. Dr. Stamm： It’s their time for a vacation. And it’s interesting， this year we haven’t had any kids that are homesick. Once we hook ’em， they keep coming back.
