早在东汉时期,我国科学家张衡就发明了用于预测地震的地动仪,这是世界上第一架测定地震及方位的仪器,比欧洲早1700多年。时至今日,地震仍是人类要面对的一大自然灾害。据资料显示,全球每周被报告的5级以上的地震有数十起,自1990年以来,全世界有超过30万人死于地震,财产损失超过2550亿美元。当前,人类仍然没有可靠的地震预测手段,赈灾手段也不例外地缺乏协调性,效率低下,急需寻求一套具有创新特性的解决方案。2007年,国际空间大学暑期培训班的一个学生小组,根据人类现在掌握的技术,设计出了“TREMOR”系统,该系统主要是利用太空资源“建立一个全球性的用于减轻地震灾害、提高赈灾能力的、天地一体化系统”。也许不久的将来,这个系统会从设想变成现实,在地震预防和减灾赈灾中发挥巨大作用。
