修身、齐家、治国、平天下是儒家的政治理想。儒家强调个人道德修养与治国、平天下的一致性,主张以“修身”为中心,由近及远,由己及人,以此来逐步实现齐家、治国、平天下的理想境界。礼乐文化通过礼乐实践来培养人们内心的道德情操,以此来达到统治秩序的稳定与和谐。礼乐文化体系中不仅包含有许多具体的典章制度及行为规范来直接维护严格的等级秩序,而且礼乐文化本身所体现的秩序、和谐等原理蕴含着深刻的治国之道,对于理顺社会关系与秩序等方面起着重要作用。在礼乐文化体系下,礼与乐密切配合,在调节人心的同时和谐各种关系,既达到了修身的效果,又有着和谐秩序的作用。礼乐文化正是儒家实现修、齐、治、平政治理想的具体方法和途径,而修、齐、治、平的政治理想又是礼乐文化教化功能的主要体现。
