澳大利亚的高中数学教学大纲①分为 A、B、C三个层次,以适合不同的人学习不同的数学之需,每个层次都包括理论依据、总体目标、目标细则、结构、专题、评价、制定工作计划和检查资料八个部分.大纲中并没有明确说明三个层次中的哪个层次的是适合较高或较低水平的学习内容,只能从目标(总体目标和目标细则)、结构、专题等各部分的具体内容上可以看出,A、B、C三个层次大致是低水平到高水平排列.这样说也许并不准确,事实上可能是编写者故意避开了这个说法,以体现所有学生都是平等的,不同的只是兴趣和各自的选择.但并不是说在任何时候学生都只能选择一个层次,也不是在任何时候只选择一个层次就可以了.大纲在正文前有如下的说明:
