Taiwan's Chinese version of “City of Bits” was purchased and translated as “Bit-Yuan City” (translated by Chen Rui-ching, published by World Vision). The English version was published in 1995 by William Mitchell, author of the first draft, which is old in today's information age. However, among many futurologists on the age of the speculative information, this is quite a creative one and is still worth promoting. The author is a professor of architecture, but it is a feature of this book that there is a study of computer applications, an idea of the future of information, and a multi-use urban design and building design. From this perspective, we read the book and found that most of the book covers the similarities and differences between the new things that emerge in the cybernetic world and our past experiences with the familiar concepts of plazas, citizens, buildings and cities. The last chapter, from the perspective of historical development, traces the changes of urban functions since the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century to help us understand our current situation.
