静摩擦力方向的判断比较困难,如两个木块叠摆在一起,给下面的木块施加平行于桌面的作用力但保持系统不动时,两木块之间是否存在着静摩擦力?又如静摩擦力与最大静摩擦力区别不清,常常用最大静摩擦力的公式f=μ_0N计算未达到最大静摩擦力时一般静摩擦力的值,而不知此种情况只能从作用力和及反作用力的关系来求一般的静摩擦力.这个演示器可以从木块上附有的指针读出静摩擦力的大小,并能根据指针偏于零点的哪一侧而指示出势摩擦力的方向.
