This article describes a new family of traveling wave tubes with a frequency range of 3 to 13 GHz and an output power of 5 to 22 watts. These specially designed TWTs are suitable for modern radio repeater systems. Combining the tube with the focusing magnet, each tube works at its best and is much easier for the user to handle. Because this tube can be replaced at the factory, the cost of replacing the tube is the same as that of a normal field replacement tube. This principle and the best electrical design parameters make it small size, excellent electrical performance, especially in the high efficiency and low noise figure, phase modulation low phase transition. The tubes are based on process technology used in existing TWTs that have been produced for more than a decade now and have proven working lives in excess of 50,000 hours. The structure of this tube, its electrical properties, and its use in a radio relay system are discussed below.
