The prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)and its associated metabolic risk factors, including obesityand metabolic syndrome, have increased over the lastdecade in both developed and developing countries (1).NAFLD is considered to be the hepatic manifestation ofmetabolic syndrome and insulin resistance which is oneof multiple hits leading to NAFLD (2).
