一、母根的收获甜菜母根的收获时期与冬季贮藏效果有密切关系。收获过早,气温高,距入窖期较长,母根临时假贮的堆内发热,会使之生芽和失水萎蔫,降低质量并引起贮藏时腐烂;收获过晚,则易遭冻害。一般在秋季当地日平均气温5～10℃时收获为宜。母根入选的标准:①根型正常,主根直,没有杈。②夏播母根应在50克以上(有灌水条件的10克左右亦可留种)。③青头小,无多头,不空心、④无病、无虫、无机械损伤。⑤新鲜,不萎蔫,未受冻害。一般采用人工起收选留母根,人工拣堆(根向里、叶向外堆成圆形)。
