This book is the result of an international collaborative research project between the University of Alberta in Canada and Yuchter Netherlands, co-authored by Max van Menen and Bath Leverin. Through the study of phenomenology, it is found that secrets are a key aspect of the growth of human beings. It shows us how commonplace secrets in daily life can make children understand and realize the inner world and the outer world that they gradually possess. Knowing how to help them form a sense of self in turn. This research also enables us to recognize that being able to own and keep secrets is a sign that children are becoming mature and independent. Being able to share their secrets with those closest to them is even more a manifestation of children’s growth and maturity.
