海军医学研究所为研究海军潜艇艇员长期处于密闭环境下的生理、生化指标的变化,于1975年建成了一组大容积吸入暴露舱群;1979年又为完成打捞日本“阿波丸”号沉船任务,增设了可供氮氧饱和潜水试验的实验舱;1987~1988年为进一步完善模拟环境医学科学研究的实验条件,又对舱群进行改装、检修,进一步完善集控、仪表更新,并增加高压氧治疗设备与排氧系统,使舱群从应用范围、性能、控制等方面都有了进一步的改善,成为我国第一套多用途大容积暴露舱。
