Bases and Synthetic Surfactants Binary compound flooding (AS) is an inexpensive and directed oil recovery technique. The addition of polymer to form an alkali-surfactant-polymer ASP in an aqueous system of alkali and surfactant can further increase oil recovery. The acid in the crude oil is neutralized with the base in the ternary system, forming an active substance at the oil-water interface, reducing the oil-water interfacial tension (IFT). The combination of ASP flooding and microbial technology described in this article is a cost-effective and innovative technology for the application of crude oil that is not effective with a single ASP flooding. The technology is based on the fact that microorganisms can alter crude oil; produce acidic species such as carboxylic acids and are neutralized by an alkaline mixture at the oil-water interface. The use of oxidized hydrocarbon microorganisms; such as arthrobacter. Sp, has been found to increase the acid content of crude oil samples in laboratory shake flask experiments. The measured hanging drop interfacial tension between the microbiologically treated crude oil and the base / surfactant mixture is lower than the value of the non-microbiologically treated crude oil. For the crude treated with Arthrobacter; the interfacial tension dropped from 0.327 mN / m (untreated) to 0.07333 mN / m. In order to optimize the technology, a variety of microorganisms were screened. A core flood experiment was carried out to quantitatively determine the crude oil recovery. Laboratory core flooding experiments using microbial flooding and ASP flooding technology show that the recovery rates of crude oil from microbial flooding and ASP flooding are both higher than that of microbial flooding and ASP flooding alone.
