As for the measurement of “symmetry of keyway cross section” (hereinafter referred to as symmetry error), most of the current errors are not measured because of the lack of easy measurement methods. In order to solve this problem, we recently studied a relatively simple method of measuring the symmetry error. Here is a description of the principle: Figure 1 is a schematic view of the keyway cross section, ABCD is the correct position of the keyway, P is the midpoint of AB, can prove AB ⊥ OP (proof of the process omitted), so ∠ABC = ∠BAD = 90 °, L_1 = L_2.
