上个世纪80年代初我的中学美术老师带我到国画家沈红茶先生(1902—1985)家,从此就从师沈先生学画。建国前沈红茶先生和陈之佛、丰子恺,陆维钊、诸乐三、徐生翁都是画友,抗战前曾担任过杭州第三民众艺术馆馆长,抗战期间和学者、文字学家张天方一起流落到天目山,共创古文字画,兼任浙江省通志馆编辑,建国后一度在中学担任教师,50年代由于历史问题淡出画坛,文革结束后,恢复自由身,年近80,是浙北有名的老画家。沈先生知道我喜欢绘画,问我真想学好画吗。我回答想。他说:“那你先把字写好,书法是画的基础。”我当时并不知道书法与绘画的关系,只因为沈先生德高望重,也就半懂不懂去做了,但对怎样写字,通过什么途经才能把字写好一无所知。所谓的练字,徒具形式,没有具体的指标。1984年我转师西泠印社的
