Japan's MITI urges the Japanese government to double public spending on research and development over the next decade. If this ambitious goal is accepted, it will make Japan the largest civilian research and development budget in the world. This proposal by MITI is part of its ten-year plan once every ten years, which the Japanese government announced this week.
