情态动词shall是法律条文中出现频率最高的情态动词之一。本文主要对美国宪法文本中以情态动词shall引导的系动词(be)句进行研究,主要从系动词be的属性出发,并结合WordSmith分析软件进行词频统计,采取定性与定量相结合的方法来研究该类句式。通过研究我们发现,shall引导的系动词句在美国宪法文本中不仅表示二个实体(或抽象实体)之间在属性上的等同关系或类属关系,而且还有可能由于词汇性的作用而表现一种属性上的递加关系。
The modal verb shall is one of the modal verbs that appear most frequently in the legal texts.
