Doctor Morphy goes to the hospital nearly every day but he wishes people never go to hospital.
看上去似乎很绕口的一个句子。你理解这句话吗？
这句话从语义层面和语言层面来讲都有很重要的意义。从语义的层面，就是希望人们都不要生病。而在语言的层面，则涉及了go to hospital 和 go to the hospital的区别。
So do you know the difference between “go to the hospital” and “go to hospital” ？
go to the hospital 意思是“去医院”。医生去医院上班，工人去医院維修设备都可以用这个词组。但是，如果是go to hospital ，那么一般就是不想看到的事情发生了——生病了。这个词组的意思是“住院看病”！
我们都希望一生都不要go to hospital。但是，人吃五谷杂粮，不生病几乎是不可能的，只要生病了就非得去医院不可。现在咱们中国的医疗技术和医疗条件都有了长足的进步，一般情况下，看病就医还是比较方便的。但在国外看病非常麻烦。所以，如果我们要临时出国，最好自己多备点常用药，不要和国外的医院和医生打交道。
如果去国外旅游突然生病，不是很严重，可以去附近的drugstore（兼售化妆品等的药房）或pharmacy（药店;药房）买常用的药物。如果需要，可以找他们店内的医生。一般情况下，稍微大点的药店有定时的医生坐堂诊疗。如果吃药不行，可以先去街道或附近的clinic（诊所）。如果比较严重的话，就要去医院（hospital）。在国外的医院看病非常麻烦，我们最好不要去：Never go to hospital！
但是，如果真的在国外需要就医，就一定要提前了解国外就医的一些程序和用语，否则真的会让你崩溃！我们要懂得一些诊所、药店和医院的基本术语，要知道哪里可以看病，哪里可以买药，到了医院要走什么样的手续，以及要知道怎么表述自己的症状。

Nurse：You’ll have to register at the counter first and then get a seat and wait for your turn. 你要先去柜台挂号，然后找个座位坐着等轮到你再看医生。
Patient：Alright. Sure. How long will I have to wait to see the doctor？ 好的，请问我要等多久呢？
Nurse：Hmm... You’ll have to wait till your name is called out， depending on the number of patients ahead of you. 嗯……你要等到喊你的名字就好了，这取决于你前面还有多少人在排队。 Patient：Alright， there are only three patients ahead of me. I guess 30 minutes will be enough. Thanks. 好的，我前面只有3个人，我猜大概30分钟吧。谢谢。
Nurse：No problem. Get well soon. 没问题，祝你早日康复。
2.在诊疗室 （in consultation room ）
Doctor：Hi. Take a seat. What’s the matter？ 你好，请坐，请问哪里不舒服呢？
Patient：Hi， doctor. I’m having symptoms like flu， sore throat and terrible headache for the past week. 你好，医生，我有流感、喉咙痛和头痛的症状已经一周了。
Doctor：Can I have a look？ Where does it hurt？Have you taken some medicine yet？ 我能看看嗎？你哪里痛？你吃过药吗？
Patient：I took some antibiotics I got from over the counter five days ago. 五天前我在药店拿了一点抗生素。
Doctor：Take off your clothes. I’ll examine you. Let me take your pulse， temperature and blood pressure. 你脱掉衣服，我来检查一下你的脉搏、体温和血压。
（few moments later 一会儿之后）
Doctor：Oops...your temperature is a bit high too... fever. Here， take this prescription， hand it over to the pharmacist and he will get you the drugs. 哎哟，你的体温也有点偏高，发烧。来，拿着这个处方，去找药剂师拿药。
Pharmacist：Here is your medicine， two pills a day after meals. And then if your symptoms are not getting better， I suggest you go to the hospital for a check？鄄up. 这是你的药，每日饭后两片。如果症状还不减轻，我建议你去医院做个检查。
Patient：Thank you Doc！ 谢谢你医生！
Pharmacist：My pleasure！ Get well soon！ 不用谢！祝你早日康复！
