The idea of a Chinese mother with a US mother My son Myers and his daughter Brigitte may have had no opportunity to raise pets until they were adults, because the couple were both allergic to animals. Plus we often go out to travel the whole family, even hairless animals, such as turtles and fish, unsuitable. I often reflect on whether this deprived children of growing up with animals. From my observation, they seem to have a natural tendency to build friendship with animals. As a remedy, Myers received a small toy dog present at 18 months of age. He always treats this toy puppy as a real treat, giving it a name, called Douglas.
