当代水墨在中国艺术市场上的表现大致可分为如下几个阶段:自2008年启动,2009年发力,继而进入2010年、2011年的爆发性增长时期,随着2012年全球经济的衰退,与资本逐利相似的艺术市场资金介入速度放缓,当代水墨转型进入消化阶段。一方面是“一线画家”画作价格节节攀升,普通买家伸手难够;另一方面,市场相较从前渐入沉静期,主动或被动地淘汰了一部分作品。在顶级市场的背后,部分画家画作价格虚高、作品重量不重质的现级屡见不鲜。
