Objective: To investigate and understand the mental health of some soldiers participating in military exercises and their influencing factors. Methods: The level of mental health of 134 officers and soldiers participating in the military exercise was investigated and analyzed by using the Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) and Coping Style Questionnaire (CSQ). Results: The SCL-90 scores of officers and soldiers participating in the military exercises were significantly higher than those of Chinese soldiers (P <0.05 or P <0.01), except for the scores of total score, total mean score, obsessive compulsive symptoms, paranoid and psychotic factors (P <0.01). The positive coping style was negatively correlated with SCL-90 scores and negative coping style (P <0.01). The coping score of CSQ was significantly higher than that of Chinese military norm, the backscoring factor score was significantly lower than that of Chinese military norm And SCL-90 scores of each factor showed a positive correlation trend. Conclusion: The mental health level of officers and men participating in military exercises is generally lower than that of Chinese servicemen. Psychological intervention should be targeted at officers and soldiers participating in military exercises.
