翁文灏先生是一位著名的地质学家,是我国地质事业的先驱者和奠基人之一。他对于地质教育事业非常关心。1917年他作为北大10人小组成员之一参加了理科课程的修订工作,1920、1925、1929、1930年他曾在北大地质学系任教,先后讲授过高等岩石学、中国地质构造。1932～1936年被聘为北大名誉教授。他关心学生的学术活动。1916～1938年期间,作为地质调查所和中国地质学会的一位负责人,他曾对北大地质学系的工作给予过很多支持。
Mr. Weng Wenhao is a famous geologist and one of the pioneers and founders of China’s geological undertaking. He is very concerned about the geological education. In 1917, he participated in the revision of the science course as one of the group of Peking University’s 10-member team. In 1920, 1925, 1929 and 1930 he taught at the Department of Geology of Peking University and taught advanced geology and geology. 1932 ~ 1936 was hired as an honorary professor at Peking University. He cares about students’ academic activities. From 1916 to 1938, as a director of the Institute of Geological Survey and Geological Society of China, he had given a lot of support to the work of Department of Geology of Peking University.
