There is a doctrine that Kashin-Beck disease is caused by lack of selenium. Sodium selenite has been used as a dietary preventive measure to a large extent. The early damage of the disease is the selective necrosis of articular cartilage and growth plate chondrocytes. In this paper, the experiment to check the in vitro controllable environment, chondrocytes exactly whether the special needs of selenium; in the absence of selenium, the chondrocytes will die. In this paper, rabbit articular cartilage and growth plate cartilage chondrocytes monolayer culture for 96 hours to observe the effect of sodium selenite on chondrocyte DNA and sulfur protein polysaccharide synthesis. We use a special medium (containing DMEM, fibroblast growth factor, insulin and dexamethasone), the selenium content is isotope
