The question of the relationship between thinking and language has been an endless debate in philosophy and linguistics since ancient times. The traditional viewpoints on the status and role of the two, or advocate the two are essentially the same, there is no difference between status and role; or advocate language is only a medium and symbol of thinking, is subordinate to thinking. Both of these views ignore the question of the role of language in thinking. The Sapir-Wolfe Hypothesis is a famous theory put forward by linguists Sapir and Wolff in the field of linguistic research, especially in the field of thinking and language relations. This hypothesis, contrary to the traditional viewpoints, makes a great deal of analysis and demonstration on the role of language in thinking. By analyzing the historical origins of Sapir-Wolfe’s hypothesis, analyzing its inner core of thought, analyzing its understanding of the concept of thinking, exploring the mysteries of human thinking, and then driving people to a new thinking on the relationship between thinking and language.
