The Mackayev Institute of Coal Mine Safety in Ukraine studied the paramagnetic relationship between miners’ silicosis and coal with different metamorphic grades. Studies have shown that the prevalence of silicosis in miners is closely related to the activation state of molecular atomic structure of coal. Therefore, it is pointed out that paramagnetism characteristics of coal can be used as a criterion for the pathogenicity of coal dust when formulating the standard of air dust content in mines so as to be objectively evaluated.
