Hydrostatic fracturing, hydraulic tests in existing fractures, sleeve reopening tests and analysis of echelons in the direction of principal stress in boreholes have shown that the above method is of great importance in the determination of the eastern part of the Paris basin The vertical stress profile of the sediments plays a good role in vertical profiles. This stress profile reveals a relaxation of the shear stress of a 190 m thick clay layer, which leads to a strong nonlinear change of stress with depth. These indicate that the current stress field there does not depend on tectonic stress but on the active deformation processes that may contain fluid-rock interactions.
