History Overview Our youth mathematics school (referred to as the “Crystal School”) was founded on September 1, 1959. The long-term preparations for 1958 and 1959 were carried out before the CYT school was opened. At first, our idea was that the number of students was small, the syllabus could be quite flexible, and even called it a “mathematics training class.” At that time it was determined to teach as much as possible about the extensive connection between mathematics and life. In particular, I taught various new branches of modern mathematics. I did not intend to review the contents of the secondary school syllabus. Instead, I tried to introduce students to modern mathematics. Initially, several of our small groups were working on this plan. Later, it was discovered that the organizational principles of the “training classes” need to be amended and supplemented so that the nature of its work is closer to that of ordinary middle schools. It requires strict subjects and requires several teachers to participate in the student’s homework.
