年画作为我国特有的一种民间美术形式,是为适应传统的年节庆贺风俗活动而产生并发展起来的。由于它在春节前张贴于千家万户,对人们的思想情操和审美情趣有着巨大的潜移默化作用。年画也是由当时的桃符、门神演变来的。大约在秦汉时期,当时的人们就有了除夕在门户上画神荼、郁垒及虎以驱鬼魅等不祥之物的习俗。到宋代,在汴京(今开封)、临安(今杭州)的岁末市场上已有预先画好的门
