Five different soil samples were measured for ammonia volatilization after solid ammonium monoammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, ammonium sulfate, ammonium nitrate and urea were applied in an amount of 100 kg N / ha. The wet soil samples made of soil column (diameter 48 mm), respectively, into the bottle for 8 consecutive days of ventilation. Volatile amounts range from 0 to 53% of applied N, and compound properties and soil types have a significant effect on volatility. Taking into account the overall combination, the degree of ammonia volatilization, expressed as a percentage of ammonium or urea N, is closely related to the pH value after a 24-hour incubation of soil and compound fertilizers. The results of this and other tests show that the ammonia volatilization rate in UK fertilizer N is about 3.4%.
