在系统功能语言学中,人际功能是语言三大元功能之一,而评价意义则是人际功能的一个重要组成部分,它涉及话语发出者对事物的态度和看法。本文运用人际功能的基本观点,以《儒林外史》及其英译本TheScholars的对比分析作为切入点,来分析汉英语言在实现人际意义中的不同表现形式。在指出汉英异同的基础上,继而探讨深层次的文化内涵,探讨原作者与译者的价值取向。本研究表明:系统功能语言学的理论模式对汉英语篇对比研究有借鉴和指导作用;对比语篇学是新兴学科,但在这个研究领域可以有所作为。
In system functional linguistics, interpersonal function is one of the three meta-functions of language, while evaluation meaning is an important part of interpersonal function. It involves the attitudes and opinions of the sender of the discourse on things. This article uses the basic point of view of interpersonal function to make a comparative analysis of The Scholars and its English translation of TheScholars as a starting point to analyze the different manifestations of Chinese and English language in the realization of interpersonal meaning. On the basis of pointing out the similarities and differences between Chinese and English, the paper discusses the deep cultural connotation and discusses the value orientation of the original author and the translator. This study shows that the theoretical model of systemic functional linguistics can be used as a reference and guide for the comparative study of Chinese and English texts. Comparative textology is a new subject, but it can do something in this field.
