金属热切圆锯片主要用于锯切热态金属,我国数百台锯机每年要使用锯片五万片以上。北京钢铁学院与唐山市冶金锯片厂合作进行新型金属热切圆锯片的研究开发工作,经过理论计算及计算机辅助设计、制造、实验室实验、中间试验和工业使用考核,首创了带侧隙的双尖齿、弧背齿和尖齿等三种新产品锯片。新锯片的强度较现有产品提高了30～46％。在四个月的考核使用中,锯切约三万五千吨钢材,未发现断齿现象,使用寿命较现有优质锯片提高60～200％。锯片磨有侧隙,可降低夹锯功率,减少锯切毛刺高
