在我国现代内燃机车制造业中,干线机车车轴齿轮箱应用许多齿轮。而随内燃机车类型的不同,有的采用整体(刚性)齿轮,有的采用带弹性元件的齿轮(即所谓弹性齿轮)。刚性齿轮毛坯是在落下部分质量为20吨的蒸汽空气锤上的开模中模锻的,用料为在18000千牛顿的蒸汽水压机上预压过的方坯。制造弹性齿轮时,其齿圈毛坯用辗压环(轮圈)在落下部分质量为20吨的锻锤上的开模中模锻而成,而轮毂毛坯用方料在15吨锻锤上的开模中模锻。
